The Academic Ranking of World Universities is released annually by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. It ranks more than 1800 universities worldwide, publishing the top 1000 universities and providing specific rankings for the top 100.
Harvard University tops the ranking list for the 17th year.
Stanford University and University of Cambridge remain to be the No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
Other Top 10 universities are MIT, Berkeley, Princeton, Oxford, Columbia, Caltech and Chicago.
In Continental Europe, ETH Zurich (19th) continues to be the best ranked university, and University of Copenhagen (26th) takes the second place. The University of Tokyo (25th) and Kyoto University (32nd) keep their leading positions in Asia. Tsinghua University (43rd) is ranked the third among Asian universities.
The University of Melbourne (41st) tops other universities in Oceania.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University (82nd) and The University of New South Wales (94th) make their first ever appearance in the Top 100. Shenzhen University and other 13 universities enter into the Top 500 list for the first time. More than 50 universities enter into Top 1000 list for the first time.
The University of Belgrade is ranked #401-500, a drop from the previous rankings and University of Novi Sad #901-1000.
