As fires in the Amazon rainforest rage on, will our social media activism make a difference?


Probably not, and according to Professor Brendan Barrett, from Osaka University, our obsession with playing the online hero is doing more damage than good. While many of us around world put our selfies on the back-burner for a startling image of the Amazon on fire, some are stopping to ask; is raising awareness enough? What is in a call to action if there is never any action? Professor Barrett explains in more detail.
