Australian Ambassador to Belgrade Julia Feeney visited Serbian Foreign Ministry on Friday for farewell call on Miniter Ivica Dacic.

Minister Dačić expressed his gratitude to Australian ambassadors for her personal contribution to improving bilateral co-operation between Serbia and Australia over the past four years, highlighting the importance of intensifying political dialogue at a high level. He particularly emphasized the importance of the visit of Australian Foreign Minister and Trade Minister Julia Bishop to Serbia in July 2017.
Minister Dačić also pointed out the importance of the achieved results in the field of economic and cultural cooperation, especially the engagement of the Australian company Rio Tinto in the development of mining projects in Serbia, as well as the realization of a large joint archaeological project "Glac" in Sremska Mitrovica.
Ambassador Feeney expressed satisfaction with the results achieved in improving the relations between Serbia and Australia, thanking Minister Dačić for excellent cooperation.
On 25th May Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms Julie Bishop has announced the appointment of Ms Ruth Stewart as Australia's next Ambassador to Serbia, with non-resident accreditation to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Montenegro.
Ms Stewart is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and was most recently Deputy Head of Mission, Australian Embassy, Phnom Penh. She has previously served overseas as Deputy Head of Mission, Australian Embassy, Yangon, and Second Secretary, Australian Embassy, Stockholm. In Canberra, she has served in a range of positions, including as Director, ASEAN Section and Director, Myanmar Section.
Ms Stewart holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Certificate in Humanitarian Leadership from Deakin University.
She will take over the office on 30th of July.
