Branka Kouroushis has been endorsed by CDP to stand for Canterbury By-election in early November as sitting Labor MP Linda Burney resigned from the state parliament to successfully run for the federal seat of Barton at the 2016 federal election. There are three candidates for the seat: Sophie Cotsis for Labour, Kristian Bodell for Greens and Branka Kouroushis for CDP.

"Labouring on behalf of all residents of Canterbury area and speaking out on behalf of all is why I have decided to run at the upcoming By-Elections for the seat of Canterbury. Labor has held this seat continuously since 1935, thats 81 years of Labor representing Canterbury area. Yes, 81 years is a long time to implement a great amount of changes, lobby for infrastructure, develop and implement these changes."

"Canterbury has recently seen a mass scale development of multi story flats, with no infrastructure to support this development. No consideration was given of how this development will impact the current infrastructure in place. Canterbury residents are resilient and accepting of change, and now its time for that change to take place. Canterbury needs a voice in parliament that will understand the vast and differing needs of this area and speak on behalf of Canterbury residents upholding traditional family values rather than the scare mongering tactics of a major party that held Canterbury back for 81 years. This is the reason I am asking all of Canterbury residents to send a clear message at the upcoming By-Election and vote for the values they hold dear, rather than the values imposed on them."
