Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international health campaign organised by major breast cancer charities every October. Their aim is to raise awareness about the disease, and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The emphasis is on providing information and support to those affected, and ensuring that woman are aware of symptoms and the importance of early screening and detection. Tina Doueihi, breast cancer survivor and avid ambassador, was disappointed by the lack of diversity in the lingerie market for survivors who had undergone mastectomies. It inspired her to start up Redfern Lingerie, and continue fighting for support for women who have survived breast cancer.
