The Australian Multicultural Community Services are always looking for volunteers over the age of 18 for confidential one-to-one companionship and friendship with seniors. The program involves a commitment to one visit per fortnight, in a person’s home or in a nursing home. You might enjoy just chatting over a cup of tea or a short walk... Almost any kind of activity can be a part of the visit – it’s up to you and your volunteer. Opportunities are available for Serbian speaking volunteers throughout the Melbourne metropolitan area.

The Team Leader Social Support and Respite Programs for AMSC Magdalena Biadala - Sahingoez said for SBS Serbian that volunteers speak many languages and come from different cultural backgrounds.

"They are trained and carefully matched to clients based on their interests, hobbies, background and availability. They must have a current police check and are supported by our organisation", she said.
