On Monday this week, a 27-year-old man was arrested for the murder of 25 year old woman Courtney Herron. Ms. Herron last week became the 20th woman to die from violence on Australia's streets, and according to statistics from organisation Destroy the Joint, every three hours in Australia, a woman is hospitalised as a result of violence from a partner, a carer, or a family member. A new study, published last week, provides an important insight to what the nation is thinking in regards to violence against women. Of particular concern, however, are the thoughts of young people. Dr. Kristin Diemer, from the University of Melbourne, was one of the lead authors and she says analysis of youth culture is important because it will predict how we handle these issues in the future.
