Diabetes is considered the fastest growing chronic disease in Australia, affecting up to an estimated 1.7 million people. If not treated properly, the metabolic condition can lead to blindness, kidney damage, limb amputations or even death. As Kristina Kukolja reports, new research suggests a majority of Australians are unaware of the size of the problem, or potential medical complications that can arise. National Diabetes Week 2017 runs between 9-15 July.
