The centre of attention at this year's 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Italy was an article published in the Italian newspaper TV RAI by Mila Mihajlović. Published in both Serbian and Italian, it told the story of the unknown role of the Italian navy in rescuing and discharging soldiers from the Albanian Golgotha and the Thessaloniki Front during the First World War.
The article is part journalist Mila Mihajlović's book titled, " Za srpsku vojsku – jedna zaboravljena priča" or "For the Serbian Army- A forgotten tale". The book details what kind of aid the Serbian army received during some of the most gruesome battles during World War I, particularly emphasising the role of the Italian navy. Ms. Mihaljović dug deep into the archives to uncover never before seen documentation which shows that in fact the Italian navy played a bigger role than both the French and English armed forces.
