Jean-Pierre Sauvage, J. Fraser Stoddart and Bernard Feringa have won the Nobel prize for chemistry for their work on molecular machines.The research could be used to develop smart medicines that seek out disease or damage, or in materials that can adapt to changes such as light and temperature. Day before the Nobel Prize for physics has been awarded to three British scientists for revealing unusual states of matter.
