March is internationally recognised as Women's History Month, an opportunity to honor women and their triumphs throughout history. In the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, however, female representation starts to dwindle when it comes to prestigious roles in the industry. Young female cancer researcher, Dr. Angelica Merlot, is part of the changing demographic. Dr. Angelica Merlot completed her PhD in medicine at the age of just 24, and this year has won the NSW Young Woman of the Year award. She came on the show to talk to us about her cancer research and her journey as a woman in STEM.
