Nataša Čiča, director of Kapacity.org, is the co-editor of the 69th edition of the Griffith Review, The European Exchange. Her story of life between two worlds, Australia and Serbia, is told through her essay 'Ripped in Half?'. Like many Australians of migrant background, Nataša describes Europe as so much more than an "opt-in holiday destination". She sees opportunities to grow, to connect professionals across oceans and better understand cultural complexities, beyond just food, music and traditional dress.
Born to an Australian mother and Serbian father, Nataša reconnected with her second home nearly a decade ago and has since been involved with numerous creative and professional projects in Australia and overseas. Plans for 2020 were well underway until the global COVID-19 pandemic brought things to a grinding halt - at least when travel is concerned. Nataša spoke to SBS Serbian about how she's dealing with being "ripped in half" after all this time together.
