Ivo Barčić; is a 20 year old saxophonist and composer, currently in his second year of university at the Music Academy in Niš, Serbia. He is the head of a new music project, bringing old and nearly forgotten Roma music back into the spotlight.

With a repertoire of 22 old songs, Ivo is embarking on a music mission to save culture. Taking some of the oldest traditional song of the Roma people, and translating them into Serbian and English along with a detailed transcribed music score, Ivo has cemented their importance for future generations.

The project is part of an initiative called Roma Music, and it is already making waves in Novi Sad and cities in Croatia.

Particularly important is the song, "Pabol lampa/Svetli Lampa/Light of the Lamp" which speaks of the struggles of Roma from Niš, who were kept in Nazi concentration camps during World War II. The song was sung by Roma and Jews as the Nazi occupiers forced them into the death chamber of the concentration camp, Crveni Krst.

Without the work of Ivo and his team, songs such as "Pabol lampa" would've have been lost to future generations.
