Sveti Nikola (St. Nicholas) is the patron saint (Slava) for so many Serbian families thus there is a Serbian saying for St. Nicholas Day, 19 December: "Half of Serbians is celebrating their Slava today, and the other half is visiting them to celebrate." It is a very important day for Orthodox Serbians but more important for all children .... as Santa Claus is coming in town....
