Bratislav Curcic is a third price winner of the 2016 ASV Crux Awards for Best Photo for his astrophotograph of the moon titled Sea of Serenity. Award was presented to him by Astronomical Society of Victoria last night.

Bratislav Curcic's 2003 image is part of a huge mosaic (approx 5000 by 10000 pixels) using his 16" f/16 Dall Kirkham telescope. Parent image is a mosaic of 16 frames, each frame a stacked composition of 10 images, done with a Canon 300D at max. frame rate of 2.5fps.
Aftermarket firmware was used to provide mirror lockup to reduce vibrations. Framed with deliberate large overlaps to be able to use only the sharpest central area. Stacking, morphing and sharpening was done with Registax and Autostakkert, mosaic composition with PanoramaTools and final picture adjustments in Photoshop.
