In the past few years the Australian painters on three occasions had their own exhibitions in this gallery in Valjevo. The first one was "Aboriginal art" and introduced 18 Aboriginal painters to the Serbian public in 2010. The second exhibition was titled "Australian landscapes" and featured five Australian artists and the third "Light of the Space" featured six Australian painters. Hranislav Nikolić talked to an academic painter and founder of the gallery Mr Radovan Trnavac.
Radovan Trnavac Micha was born in 1950 in Kragujevac, Serbia. He gained his first painting experience in Nikšić, Montenegro, at the Pedagogical Academy, in the class of Professor Nikola Gvozdenovic. After finishing the first year of study, he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, painting department, where he graduated in 1977, in the class of professor Mladen Srbinovic.
From 1981 to 2005 he lived in the United States, where he acquired a great reputation as an artist. He exhibited in Serbia, Italy, The USA, Canada, Poland, Macedonia, Belorussia, Republika Srpska and Russia. His paintings are found in numerous museums and private collections around the world. He exhibited alongside the most significant painters of the 20th century such as Picasso, Rauschenberg, Lichtenstein, Warhol and many others.
In 1977, the city of Valjevo established the International Art Studio "Radovan Trnavac Mića", with an aim to host famous and renowned artists from around the world. From 2005 Radovan Mića Trnavac has been living and working en route Belgrade - Valjevo - New York.
