Slavoljub Muslin has become a Socceroos coaching candidate with an incredible twist involving Ange Postecoglou.
Fox News reports that he has been contacted by Football Federation Australia (FFA) with regards to leading the Socceroos to next year’s FIFA World Cup.
After German legend Jurgen Klinsmann asked a close friend to make an inquiry about leading Australia to the Russian tournament via a former Socceroo, Muslin has emerged as a potential new Australia boss, according to various Australian outlets including Fox Sports.
In an interview with SBS Serbian, 64-year-old Muslin says he will be "very happy to lead the Australian national team."
But he also denies that anyone from FFA has contacted him.
He said he first learned from the Australian newspaper that he is being considered as a potential Socceroos boss.

"In that way I could help young Australian players who maybe don't have the European or global experience to bring the game to the next level," he says.
Muslin also says that he has a few offers on his plate, including an offer to lead Yokohama F Marinos - the club where Postecoglou is now the chief candidate, according to Japanese sources.
"I have got the offer from Yokohama," Muslin says. "We have talked and still talking."
"I am one of the candidate for the team, but there are quite few offers more."
Muslin was fired from the Serbian job despite leading the nation to its second World Cup appearance since 2006 after it became an independent nation.
Muslin managed Serbia for 15 games from June 2016 after having jobs with clubs such as Standard Liege, Dinamo Minsk and Red Star Belgrade.
