The St.Seraphim of Sarov Choir is an all male ensemble from Serbia. Highly acclaimed and the recipient of numerous awards both locally and internationally, the choir performs works from the liturgical treasures of the Orthodox Church as well as patriotic and folk songs. Presented by St Sava College the St.Seraphim of Sarov Choir will be presented to the Australian audience in the Utzon Room in Sydney Opera House on 4th October. Maestro Bozidar Crnjanski talks to SBS Serbian.


Serbian Choir Seraphim of Sarov was founded in 1995. in Zrenjanin in the monastery of St.. Melanie of Roman in Zrenjanin, where he began to participate in church services.

The ensemble's repertoire cherishes most beautiful choral spiritual songs Serbian, Russian and Greek composers and original compositions with an emphasize Liturgy Sv. John Chrysostom in Serbian which was prepared for the male choir by Maesto Božidar Crnjanski.

CONDUCTOR

Bozidar Crnjanski, a graduate music teacher, and then master Choral Conducting under Professor. T. Ostojic at the Art Academy in Novi Sad. His interest in working with choral ensemble gets in the choir "Josif Marinkovic" and then as a singer and conductor of the "St. Seraphim of Sarov. Representative of the Academy of Arts in international project Campus Cantat 2001 in Dortmund (Germany), master classes in conducting Winter School 2005 in Dubrovnik with prof. Mats Nielsen (Royal Academy Stockholm, Sweden) and the famous conductor, Gary It was built (Ljubljana 2007). As the conductor of chorus "Svetozar Markovic" from 2002 won many international awards. He was awarded the "Best Conductor" at the first International Choir Festival. He is employed as an Assistant Professor of Conducting at the Art Academy in Novi Sad.
