The last Serbian royal family to wear a crown were the Nemanjić family, followed only by the crowning of King Peter the First Karadjordjević in Belgrade, 1904. The fate of the old Serbian crowns remains unknown, but the story of King Peter's crown is now detailed in Velimir Stojanović's documentary, "The King's Cannon - The History of the Serbian Crown".

Stojanović's documentary has received numerous awards, and at the end of last week, was noticed at the Stockholm Internationl Film Festival.  The film follows the, until now, unknown details of how the crown was made and cared for, as well as the history of the modern Serbian state.

The crown was made from part of a cannon used by the Karadjordjević family during the Serbian Uprisings, was designed by architect Mihailo Valtorić and made by the famous Falise brothers jewellery company in Paris. It is currently the only Serbian crown kept in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
