United States president Donald Trump has announced a change of thinking towards the war in Afghanistan, saying US troops cannot be withdrawn quickly. Despite campaigning for such a move, he now says a hasty withdrawal would create a vacuum for terrorists to fill. Mr Trump says he has decided the United States needs to stay involved to avoid what he calls the mistakes made in Iraq.
