Dr Tamara Prosic studied world literature and philosophy before finally settling for Bachelor’s degree in Sociology which she completed in Yugoslavia. She began her MA studies in Anthropology in Belgrade, but then moved to Melbourne where she completed MA and PhD at Melbourne University.
In 2006 she joined the School of Historical Studies, the Centre for Studies of Religion and Theology, on one year research fellowship jointly funded by the Australian Research Council and Monash University. In 2007 she started teaching Myth and Meaning in Ancient Worlds.
Tamara is interested in interdisciplinary studies of religion, ritual studies, comparative studies of ancient Mediterranean cultures and application of anthropology, in particular symbolic anthropology, to Biblical literature and ritual. She is also interested in political theologies, in particular the theology of Orthodox Christianity and the ways it intersects with classical Marxism and modern Marxist theories.
