Novak Djokovic now has the equal-third-most men's grand slam singles titles after beating Juan Martin del Potro in the U-S Open final. The Serbian triumphed in straight-sets -- 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.

Djokovic's 14th major title draws him level with Pete Sampras  and trailing only Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, who have 20 and 17 titles respectively.

After the match, Djokovic thanked those who helped him stay positivie while injured earlier this year.

“You learn from adversity. You learn when you're down, when you're down, when you have doubtful moments, when things are not working out. I try to take the best out of myself in those moments and thrive on the support and love I get from close ones.”
