FINA PRESS

FINA high official, Mark Koganov, vice-president of FINA technical water polo committee and Wim Keman, honorary Secretary shared their satisfaction that the World League Super is being held in Belgrade pointing out that we can expect an exciting competition:

-World League Super Final is being played at the legendary swimming pool, with rich water polo history and tradition. For that reason it is an honor for every player to play at the Tašmajdan swimming pool – said Koganov and addressed the importance of this tournament for the future of water polo as a sport.

-Despite we will award the winners of the tournament with the visa for the Olympics Games in Tokyo 2020, it is important to say that prize fund is bigger and it is now 350 000 dollars. Also, for the first time in water polo history video technology will be used, similar to the VAR system we now see in football, and we now can, using video, clear out any dilemma whether it was a goal or not. We will try the new system, see how it works, test the efficiency. Our desire is to use video technology at the World Championships in Korea and I think it would be a major step forward – concluded Koganov
