About the importance of vitamins B13 and B15 in medicine, Aleksandar Zivkovic spoke with the Sydney University Professor Dr Ostoja Vucic.


Vitamin B13 or Orotic acid is an intermediate in pyrimidine metabolism, primarily used for metabolization of folic acid and vitamin B12.

Vitamin B13 improves myocardial purine and pyrimidine levels, also involved in DNA synthesis, magnesium orotate may reduce the severity of chronic myocardial dysfunction.

Good vitamin B13 sources are root vegetables and whey.

Vitamin B15 or pangamic acid has antioxidant properties. Vitamin B15 aids in lowering cholesterol blood levels, aids in protein synthesis, needed for normal growth and brain activity, for formation of stress hormones.

Good vitamin B15 sources are whole grains, brewer's yeast, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, and beef blood.
