As the Australian Open and tennis legend Rod Laver celebrate significant anniversaries in 2019, SBS Serbian speaks with Laver on whether Novak Djokovic will sweep the year's Grand Slam titles.

This January the modern Australian Open celebrates its 50th anniversary and for Rod Laver, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of his second Grand Slam sweep, when he won all four major tournaments - the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open - in a calendar year for the second time. It's something that Serbian player Novak Djokovic aims to do this year.

SBS Serbian the opportunity to ask Rod Laver if he had ever guessed that 50 years after his second sweep he would be giving more interviews then ever, and what he expects from the Australian Open's number one seed, Novak Djokovic.

Asked whether he thinks Djokovic can sweep the four major tournaments, Laver had confidence that if any present player could, it would be Djokovic.

"Someone like Novak is certainly capable of winning the Grand Slam. he certainly got close three or four years, or five years back," Laver says.
