When the first big surprise of the 2018 Russia World Cup was delivered courtesy of Mexico, the team's dedicated fans reacted with a few incredible moves of their own.

Global news outlets reported with incredulous glee on the "artificial earthquake" caused by deliriously happy Mexico fans celebrating Hirving Lozano's winning goal in Mexico City.
Meanwhile, Mexico fans all over the world were delighting social media users with their unfettered joy and dedication to their team.

Case in point: this fan who blessed every player through her TV screen.

Understandably, there was a great deal of celebratory dancing and flag-waving

The soccer fans who proposed after the victory (even though it makes us wonder what would have happened if they'd lost?)

Germany will call Trump for help?

But.. guess what!

Not to mention, the memes..

From villain to national hero

Mexican National Soccer Team, Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio, was criticised before this historical match due to his controversial strategic decisions in key matches, like the friendly encounter with Denmark before Russia-20018. Then, Mexico was defeated 2-0.

(Mexican cuing to ask Osorio for forgiveness)
