After decades of threats, provocation and nuclear testing, a historic summit in Singapore between United States president Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has culminated in the signing of a joint agreement, committing to work towards the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. In return the U-S has agreed to provide security guarantees for its long-time enemy. Leaders around the world have praised the first-ever meeting between a sitting US president and a North Korean leader . The Australian government is cautiously welcoming the meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
