The New South Wales Premier has announced a one-billion-dollar infrastructure fund... saying rebuilding starts now. This fund will be used to repair critical infrastructure such as roads, rail and schools. Alongside government allocations are private donations... the largest is 70 million from mining magnate Andrew Forrest.

In the meantime, even though the Australian Trade and Investment Commission names tourism as one of five super growth industries driving the future prosperity of Australia, as bushfires devastate communities reliant on the tourist dollar, the industry is suffering.
