Asylum Policy – "....neither party has got it right."

Both the Federal Government and the Opposition are toughening their positions on asylum seekers who, they say, are taking advantage of Australia. The Federal Opposition says, if it wins power, it would send in special-forces troops to intervene when asylum seekers threaten to harm themselves at sea.Meantime, the Government has moved to punish asylum seekers who destroy their identity documents and to fly people found to be economic migrants out of the country.
