Almost every politician elected to the Australian Parliament is a member of a political party. Since it is quite difficult to get elected without the financial backing of a political party, we don't find many independent politicians elected to the parliament.


A few politicians have switched sides after being elected to the parliament.  Some have made that switch more than once.  Some have changed the course of this country and its government.
