Canadian Parliament unanimously adopted a motion to make May 18 of each year 'Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day'. Liberal MP Gary Anandasangaree put forward the motion on 18.05.2022.The Government of Sri Lanka said it notes with regret the adoption of a motion in the Canadian Parliament on the alleged genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka and the recognition of 18 May as “Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day”.
