Mr Lowe's assessment came during his appearance before a Senate committee examining Australia's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many are drinking in front of their children and this behaviour has prompted experts to issue a stern warning.

World leaders call for unity to boost global economic recovery, and there's new hope for a COVID-19 vaccine.
