As the world races to find a vaccine or treatment for COVID-19, Australian researchers are trialling an anti-malaria drug to test how well it prevents the virus.


Australian researchers are set to benefit from $400 million in federal funding for the discovery of new treatments for serious health conditions, including cancer, mental health and infectious diseases.

It's hoped the funding boost will help restart hundreds of clinical trials, which have been put on hold due to the pandemic.

What is hydroxychloroquine?  Could it help end the pandemic?  Or do we have to wait for funding boost to see a more practical solution?
