More than two million Australians have downloaded the COVIDSafe app and the federal government hopes at least 10 million people will sign on. Designed to assist contract tracing, the app is regarded one of the keys to being able to ease some of the Covid-19 restrictions.

The government says the initial uptake of its mobile phone app to improve the tracing of COVID-19 cases in Australia has been strong.

But some argue that this App could be used to track an individual’s movements and is breaching privacy of an individual.

So, should we download it?  Kulasegaram Sanchayan asks Dr John Coyne, Head of Strategic Policing and Law Enforcement and Head of the North and Australia’s Security at Australian Strategic Policy Institute; and Rajan Venkataraman, Vice President and the main media spokesperson of Civil Liberties Australia to help us make that choice.
