Jallikattu has been practised for thousands of years in Tamil Nadu. But in 2014 the sport was outlawed by the Indian Supreme Court following objections from animal rights activists who say it is cruel. However, Australian Tamils Vigneshwari Mohan, Mathan Raj and Anusuya Shivhaani Palaniappan who worked for Senaapathy Kangayam Cattle Research Foundation in Tamil Nadu argue the motives behind banning Jallikattu with RaySel.
