Pope Francis canonised Blessed Devasahayam Pillai along with nine others during a Canonisation Mass in St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican on Sunday (15 May). Devasahayam Pillai is the first Indian layman being proclaimed as a saint by the Pope. Bishop Nazarene Soosai, Bishop of Kottar in Tamil Nadu and Fr.Titus Mohan from Tamil Catholic media in Vatican shared the historical facts about Devasahayam Pillai and the current information about the canonisation ceremony.
