Bushfire has been ravaging many parts of Australia over the past weeks. More than three hundred thousand acres of land has been burnt. 23 people, including some firefighters have fallen victims. Tens of thousands of wild animals and cattle have also fallen prey to this bushfire.
Rural Fire Service, a fire department, operates in every state. In the state of NSW alone, about 74 thousand people work in Rural Fire Service. Only 911 of them are paid employees. All the others are volunteers. One of them is Ranjith.
Ranjith talks to Kulasegaram Sanchayan about why he joined the RFS as a volunteer, his experience and provides guidance to join RFS as a volunteer.
