George Fernandes passed away

George Mathew Fernandes who was elected nine times to the Lok Sabha, died on Tuesday in New Delhi. He was 88. A veteran parliamentarian who served several times as a Union Cabinet Minister, holding portfolios such as communications, industry, and railways, besides defence. Professor Ramu Manivannan, head of Department of Politics and Public Administration of the University of Madras, outlines George Fernandes’s contribution to Indian politics, social justice and Eelam issue.
