How to drought-proof your home garden?

While the drought continues to hurt farmers across large swathes of eastern Australia, the big dry is also taking its toll on our home gardens. Dr Victor Rajakulendran who had graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Srilanka, Peradeniya campus with a degree in Agricultural Science speaking to Maheswaran Prabaharan about how to drought-proof your home gardens. With all of New South Wales and almost 60 per cent of Queensland drought-declared, and parts of Victoria experiencing a one-in-20-year rainfall deficiency, the lack of water is widespread. Dr Victor Rajakulendran graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Sri Lanka, Peradeniya campus with a degree in Agricultural Science . Worked as a Lecturer in Entomology at the same University. Did Post-Graduate studies in Entomolgy at Texas A&M University, in College Station, Texas and obtained a M.S and a P.hD in Entomology. Lectured at the University of the South Pacific in Wesrern Samoa and from there migrated to Australia. Worked in Australia for more than 23 years as a Research Entomologist first as a Vegetable Entomologist and then as a Fruit Fly Entomologist and retired 6 years ago.
