Mr Bala alias Balamurgan is an independent cartoonist based in Chennai. He worked as a full time cartoonist in Kumudam, a leading Tamil weekly magazine, for 12 years. Bala was arrested in November last year for publishing a cartoon criticizing the government. The cartoon shows a naked Nellai police commissioner, collector and the Tamil Nadu chief minister covering up with wads of cash as they close their eyes to a child's burning body. Bala defends his cartoon and criticises the Tamil political system and parties. Raysel Spoke to Bala. Part 2.
