“Love jihad” is a conspiracy theory claiming that Muslim men lure Hindu women into marriage in order to force their conversion to Islam. Some North Indian states started enacting legislation against forced religious conversion. However, women rights groups oppose it. Meanwhile India’s Supreme Court agreed to hear petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the laws.
