Joe Biden picks Kamala Harris as running mate in US presidential race

United States presidential candidate Joe Biden has made history by picking Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate, making her the first black woman on a major party presidential ticket.

It's the next step in a career of 'firsts' for Senator Harris who was also the first Black attorney general of California and the first woman to hold the post, and the first woman of South Asian heritage to be elected to the US Senate.
