Located about 20 km from Madurai, on the southern banks of the Vaigai River is Keeladi. Within the coconut plantations in Keeladi, excavations began in 2014 and the artefacts found there have been studied. The fourth phase of the excavation was done by the Tamil Nadu Archaeological Department (TAD). Its findings were made public last week.
