Medical transfers bill passes Senate

The bill passed the Senate on Wednesday 36 votes to 34, after Justice Party Senator Derryn Hinch confirmed his support for the bill. An amended bill making it easier for asylum seekers to be transferred to Australia for medical treatment has passed the Lower House and is set to return to the Senate. It's the first time since 1929 that a sitting government has lost a vote on key leglislation in the Lower House. Praba Maheswaran has the story in Tamil, written by Sunil Awasthi for SBS News.
