A counter conference to the annual gathering of mining companies and government officials IMARC (International Mining and Resources Conference) happened last week. They talked about, “Beyond Mining: Protecting Land, Water & Life.” Bridging Lanka is an NGO that operates in North West of Sri Lanka which is running a campaign to limit an Australian mining operation mine Ilmenite. They claim that mining ilmenite with deplete fauna & flora in that area and will have a long-term effect on the environment.
