Our Australia: Sir Bernard Katz

Source: Wikimedia
German-born Australian scientist Sir Bernard Katz was jointly awarded a Nobel Prize with Swedish Professor Ulf von Euler and American Dr Julius Axelrod for explaining the chemicals at work, between nerves and also between nerves and muscles, and how this controls movement. Bernard discovered the chemical transmitters used by nerve cells to communicate. This research has been fundamental to understand how the human nervous system works. Remadevi Dhanasekar explains the contributions of Sir Bernard Katz in “Namma Australia”.
