Since the Department of Home Affairs had rejected the request by Tharnicaa Nadesalingam for Ministerial Intervention citing that the request does not meet the Minister's guidelines on ministerial power (s46A), the family was deported last night. However, a last minute injunction issued by a judge called for the family to be 'deplaned' at Darwin. Now, the family is kept at a motel with guards placed outside.
