Refugees

Source: AAP

Refugees and people fleeing persecution end up as stateless and homeless even in the era of globalisation. Is globalisation only fit for the economic and trade relations, not for humanity? The latest UN refugee agency’s report states that 68.5 million people were forced to flee their homes by the end of 2017. Almost every region around the world faces the refugee crisis. This current situation looks as worst refugee crisis since the second world war. UN refugee agency also found 85% of refugees are living in developing countries. As a developing country, India is also a temporary home to Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka, Rohingya refugees from Myanmar, Tibet refugees, Chakma and Hajong refugees from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and few other refugees from different nations. “Refugee”, a series, presented by Maga.Tamizh Prabhagaran, Journalist from Tamil Nadu and produced by RaySel for SBS-Tamil is going to give a complete view about the refugee background and situation in India.
