Refugee 06: The boat story of asylum seekers

Australia became hot spot and was considered to be a big hope for refugees who left Sri Lanka after the end of brutal war in 2009. Those who live in fear of persecution chose those dangerous ‘boat journey’ as a choice by putting their lives at a higher risk. Australia officially termed these asylum-seeking arrivals as Illegal Maritime Arrivals and they are often branded as ‘economic migrants’. Tamil refugees who have been living in refugee camps in Tamil Nadu also attempted the dangerous boat journey with the hope of reaching Australia.
