“Thottakkaattee” unveils the struggles of Tea Estate Workers in Sri Lanka

Ra Vinodh and his Book

Two centuries have passed since indentured laborers were taken to Sri Lanka for plantation work. Kulasegaram Sanchayan engages in a dialogue with R Vinodh, the author of "Thottakkaattee," a poignant collection of poems meticulously crafted to unravel the historical narrative of the highland people of Sri Lanka and shed light on their contemporary challenges.

In this program, the eloquent recitations of Nila and Sribalan bring to life the verses that poignantly capture the plight of tea estate workers in Sri Lanka. Vinodh's work serves as a literary lens, offering readers a profound understanding of the struggles faced by these communities throughout history and in the present day. This was first broadcast about ten years ago.
